Growing of Virtue

Growing of Virtue is a proof-of-concept project that is primarily intended to test the workflow of the AI-assisted creation of Visual Novel projects.

You are You, a seasoned adventurer, who travels with a stalwart, yet secretive companion named Titania.  The story opens with a quest in which the fate of the realm hangs in the balance, but more is at stake than meets the eye.  Over time, it becomes clear that your deepest desires that have been growing over the years between you and Titania will be revealed.  What secret pleasures will you discover together?

There is some controversy over the use of AI as a tool for creating artwork and assets.  If you are fundamentally opposed to the use of AI in this way, I suggest that you instead enjoy one of the many other available games which do not make use of AI as a tool for creating art.  If you are open to the idea of AI being integrated into the workflow of art creation, please read on.

There is much that can be said about the philosophy and definition of art that has been put forward by people far more eloquent than myself.  If the topic is new to you, I would suggest doing research into the topic yourself, and seek out people who are knowledgeable about these subjects.  AI is becoming widely available for the creation of images, and I would encourage anyone who is curious to explore one of the many tools available to see what it is like, and reach your own conclusion about how it should or should not be used.

For myself, AI will be just another tool I use in the creative process.  I am an artist by trade, and habitually make use of many software tools to increase my productivity, including Blender, Clip Studio Paint, GIMP, Photoshop, FL Studio, Audacity, and many others.  Every image that I create, with or without the use of AI, is shaped with care, thought, and the vision of the final product in mind.  At times (perhaps more often than not), the use of AI on its own did not produce an adequate product without significant edits.  Utilizing AI for this project by no means caused me to put my tablet pen to rest.  On the contrary, it has enabled and fueled greater productivity, and I think this is at the heart of how AI will be of such tremendous benefit for those who wish to experience works like these.  Simply, it helps me to create more art and better art.  I hope you will approach it with an open mind as I have.
